What an eclectic day yesterday was and not one which you would have thought would produce the image above. I had offered my assistance at a church fete which on a sunny day in June I thought would be a relaxing day. So imagine my surprise when I spent an hour and a half stood in a country lane in a hi visibility jacket directing traffic. I did however meet some really interesting people and found out some interesting things during my time there. Including, that rather worryingly that bees, hornets and midges are attracted to hi visibility jackets!
So as all good photographers should, I had my camera ready and decided to use the difficulty and the abundance of now swarming insects as subjects for a study in macro. I haven't taken macro photos for a long while and it was the perfect opportunity to capture some unexpected images like these in this blog.
What struck me was the delicacy that the bee had in moving from flower to flower, barely disturbing the petals it was walking on as it went about its work. I love macro shots as its only when you see things this close up that you can appreciate how intricate insects are and much more complex they are than they first appear.
So the next time you're out for a walk or even in the garden, take the time to look beyond the ordinary things as there are some fantastic things happening in macro right before your eyes . Have a great weekend
